At Littorina, we are committed to transforming coastal infrastructure into thriving marine habitats. Specialising in eco-engineering, we enhance seawalls, breakwaters, and similar structures to support coastal species such as seaweed, crabs, and snails, fostering biodiversity and promoting healthier ecosystems.

Littorina is led by Dr Ruth Callaway, a marine biologist with over 20 years of experience working for commercial consultancies, governmental organisations, and in academia. Ruth has written more than 30 scientific publications on coastal and marine biodiversity. She also played a pivotal role in the SEACAMS and ECOSTRUCTURE research projects, which advanced academia-industry collaboration and provided essential scientific evidence for coastal eco-engineering.

Project work is built on strong partnerships with concrete manufacturers, textured panel and reef unit suppliers, mould designers, environmental charities, community groups, academic institutions, and infrastructure owners. Together, we aim to create sustainable coastal solutions that benefit both nature and communities.
