Mumbles Sea Hive Project:
Shaping Sustainable Sea Defences
Thirteen distinct surface textures were evaluated to guide Swansea Council's decision on the finish for the new sea defences in Mumbles. The project involved extensive stakeholder consultation and community engagement to ensure a collaborative and informed approach.
Funded by Swansea University’s SEACAMS and Ecostructure projects, the initiative was delivered in partnership with Knights Brown, Swansea Council, Reckli GmbH, CubeX, and Arup.
The Kerry pattern by Reckli was selected for its ecological performance, visual appeal, and adaptability for large-scale use.
