Settlers of Porthcawl

Textured panels have been horizontally installed at the foot of a breakwater as part of an eco-engineering initiative. This project tests three experimental concrete mixes and ten unique surface patterns to assess their effectiveness in promoting marine biodiversity.

Delivered in partnership with Arup, Bridgend Council, Knights Brown, CubeX, and Resting Reef, this collaborative effort combines engineering innovation with ecological insight to pioneer sustainable solutions for coastal environments.

235 panels were installed at the foot or the Porthcawl breakwater.
